There’s something bonding about catchphrases. I look back fondly at my school years and the obsession my then-best-friends and I had with the likes of River Phoenix, Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. We’d waste A LOT of time messing around, quoting lines from Lost Boys or Heathers as some sort of in-joke. By the time of GCSE Drama it was more The Mary Whitehouse Experience, Harry Enfield, The Fast Show, Little Britain, everyone’s at it at some point…

And now? Well, Rik and I have our own peculiar set of phrases, which, every time we accidentally utter them in public, cause a few raised eyebrows and puzzled looks. Yep, we’re at THAT stage. Reciting things from the goddamn musical toys that Ted loves so much and that drive us up the wall. I can’t go anywhere without saying ‘We’re on our way!’ in a very particular sing-songy way and I can hear Rik pottering round the flat calling out, ‘Roll along with me’ or ‘I’m a cat!’ and I realise it’s time to get out more. We’ve been playing with the rocking animal bus far too much and if we leave it too much longer no one’s going to understand a word we say.
